Terms

Privacy Terms

Effective date: 1 July 2025

These terms cover your use of Screen Ferry — the viewer app, the host app, and the relay service — provided by Elysian Edge LLC. By using any of them, you agree to them. If you do not, do not use them.

What the service is

Screen Ferry lets you reach one Mac from another. You install the host app on the Mac you want to reach and the viewer app on the Mac you are sitting at, sign in on both, and connect. We run a relay service that lets the two find each other and forwards traffic between them when a direct network path is not available.

Your account

You need an account, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself, and tell us at support@screenferry.com if you think someone else has them. You can revoke any enrolled device at any time, and revoking it ends that device's access.

There are limits, and they exist to keep the service healthy rather than to upsell you: up to 25 enrolled devices per account and up to 8 sessions running at once. We may change these; if we lower them we will say so.

You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live. [NEEDS COUNSEL] — the minimum age and the eligibility wording depend on the jurisdiction decision below.

Using it properly

This is the important one for a product like this, so it is first and it is plain:

Only connect to a computer you are authorised to access. Screen Ferry gives you real control of a real machine — its screen, its keyboard, its files. Use it on computers you own, or on computers whose owner has genuinely given you permission. Using it to reach a machine you are not entitled to reach is a serious matter, is very likely a crime where you live, and will get your account terminated.

You also agree not to:

  • Use the service to break the law, or to help someone else break it.
  • Install the host app on a machine to monitor someone without their knowledge and consent.
  • Attack, overload, probe, or attempt to bypass the limits and protections of the relay, or use it as a general-purpose proxy for traffic that is not a Screen Ferry session.
  • Resell or sublicense access to the service, or run it as part of a competing product.
  • Reverse engineer the apps, except where law gives you that right regardless of what we write here.

A note on the host app: it can only capture your screen or inject input after macOS itself asks you and you say yes. We do not have a way around those prompts, and we are not trying to build one.

The two apps and their licences

The apps ship by two different routes, and that changes the licence you get:

  • The viewer is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple's own terms for App Store software apply to your copy of it, in addition to these terms, and where the two conflict on a point Apple's rules cover, Apple's rules win. [NEEDS COUNSEL] — the exact Apple licence terms to incorporate, including whether the standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement applies or a custom EULA is filed.
  • The host is distributed by us as a direct download, signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use it on Macs you own or control, for as long as these terms are in force.

We keep all rights in the software that we do not explicitly grant you here.

Availability, and the honest state of things

Screen Ferry is early software. It is being actively built, it will have bugs, features will change, and the service will occasionally be down — sometimes without warning. We do not currently offer an uptime commitment, and we will not pretend to one until we can meet it.

Your connections depend on networks we do not control. A session may be slow, may degrade, or may fail entirely for reasons that are nothing to do with our software.

Pricing

[NEEDS COUNSEL] — there is no pricing, billing, subscription, refund, or trial mechanism in this product yet, so this document deliberately describes none. Add these terms when there is something to charge for.

Suspension and termination

You can stop at any time: delete your account, and your devices, pairings, and session records go with it, on the schedule set out in the privacy policy.

We can suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms — in particular the authorisation rule above — or that is damaging the service for other people. Where the circumstances allow it, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right. Where they do not, such as an account actively being used to attack someone, we will act first.

Disclaimers

The service and the apps are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure against every attack, and we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

[NEEDS COUNSEL] — some jurisdictions do not permit these exclusions, and consumers there keep rights that no contract can remove. The carve-out sentence for those jurisdictions depends on the governing-law decision below.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, for lost profits, or for lost or corrupted data arising from your use of Screen Ferry. Our total liability to you, for any and all claims taken together, is limited to one US dollar (US$1.00).

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change this page and the effective date at the top. If a change is material, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Screen Ferry after a change means you accept the updated terms. [NEEDS COUNSEL] — the required notice period, and whether continued use is a valid means of acceptance in the relevant jurisdiction.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or to Screen Ferry will be resolved by binding arbitration seated in Las Vegas, Nevada. Where a claim may lawfully be brought in court instead, the courts located in Las Vegas, Nevada have exclusive jurisdiction.
